Carlos Meira is a paper sculpture artist. While studying at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro states, he had discovered his unique ability to be suitable for developing his paper sculpture style.

He has collaborated and worked as an art director in some of the advertising agencies. In the early 1990s, he moved to Portugal and became a graphic designer at Renova Paper factory. It was here, he actually developed his first works with paper sculpture art.

He returned to Brazil in 1996 and began to devote more artworks. In 2000, he organized his first solo exhibition of paper artworks and was the basis for the development so far.

Therefore, he is considered a father of 3D paper sculpture art. His impressive and unique works are bought by many people for hanging their house and companies for advertising their company images.

His sculptures works are made of several layers of paper for the effect of a 3-dimensional popup. Each piece of paper is handcrafted by each step as drawing, cutting, bending, rounding, smoothing … to get the desired result.

Just by glue and paper, he has created lively works purely in color from white to brilliant colors.

In Vietnam, there is also a unique type of 3D painting, it is not made from paper that from canvas fabric; so it is called a canvas picture and is a very special painting of the people in South, which is appeared in the twentieth century by Mr. Tran Van Huy was called Thuy Tien in Sa Dec foundation.
The most outstanding feature of the canvas painting is the painting on the silk background, there are many shapes, details rolled fabric by artists who fold silk up, and they look very lively. These popup shapes combine with subtle drawings and close layouts that render canvas pictures look like 3D paintings
